What the role is

As a tax professional, you have tax knowledge at your fingertips and the heart to build a socially responsible taxpaying community. What you will be working on

  • Identify audit issues and perform audit verification of the GST returns
  • Analyse data to uncover insights for the purpose of performing the audit.
  • Risk assess GST refund claims using digital compliance tools
  • Prepare reports and submissions on audit findings and recommend actions to be taken, as well as educate taxpayers on the correct GST treatment.
  • Work closely with colleagues from the GST and Investigation and Forensic Divisions to identify and tackle fraudulent GST refund claims.

Officers are also expected to contribute towards enhancements and continuous work improvements by:

  • Providing regular feedback/ ideas to improve taxpayers’ compliance and work processes
  • Participating and applying knowledge of relevant technologies (e.g. RPA, data analytics) or methodologies (e.g. BI & Design) in ad hoc projects that may be assigned from time to time to improve taxpayers’ compliance or streamline work processes.

What we are looking for

  • Preferably a degree in Tax, Accountancy or Business.
  • Basic knowledge in GST and/or at least 2 years of audit experience will be an added advantage.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
  • Logical, organised and systematic in handling and analysing available information/data
  • Ability to question, probe and analyse
  • Resourceful and able to work independently in a team environment
