What you will be working on
You will identify relevant data sources and utilise a variety of tools (e.g. Excel, Tableau) and languages (e.g. Python) to extract, clean, transform, analyse, and model data. You will also build dashboards and/or apply data visualisations to summarise and present findings effectively to provide insights for the sectors’ Job Transformation Map (JTM) and manpower policies. Where needed, you may be asked to supplement quantitative insights by supporting other research such as surveys, in-depth interviews or focus group discussions.
The data analyses are required to meet the following aims for the JTM
• Quantify the impact of sectoral trends on the sector performance and growth, and new/ emerging job roles
• Project growth in the workforce size and manpower demand in the next 3-5 years, for existing roles and growth jobs in the sector
• Analyse changes in skills composition for different job roles, project demand for present and future skills, supported by text analysis on job descriptions in job postings
• Analyse jobs-skills adjacencies for different job roles and sectors for manpower planning
What we are looking for
Knowledge and Skills:
• Currently enrolled in a relevant polytechnic or tertiary programme related to data analytics, data science, computer science, or a related field. Penultimate year students preferred.
• Proven experience in tools for data collection, manipulation and analysis such as Python, R, SQL, and data visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI.
• Basic understanding of machine learning algorithms, data structuring and database management concepts.
• Interest in data analysis, visualization, and deriving insights from large datasets.
Abilities/Aptitudes:
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and communicate/collaborate effectively in teams
• Possesses a curious mind that is open to different ideas, solutions and possibilities
• Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Tenacious and proactive in responding to challenges in a timely manner
