What the role is

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) plays a critical role in keeping Singapore safe and secure with our mission to prevent, deter and detect crime. Within the SPF, the Police Psychological Services Department (PPSD) plays an important role in supporting the organisational and operational needs of SPF. The Data Analyst will be part of the Organisational Psychology Division (OPD) in PPSD. As a Data Analyst, you will play a key role in establishing the foundation for PPSD's data analytics capabilities, focusing on integrating and analysing human capital data to support talent assessment and leadership development initiatives. Hence, you would also be involved in talent assessment and leadership development initiatives conducted by PPSD, organisational diagnostics work, and the application of data analytics to other areas of psychology (e.g., operations, crime). This position presents an exciting opportunity to shape the future of data-driven decision-making in psychological services within the SPF. You will be placed under the Management Executive Scheme.

What you will be working on

As a Data Analyst in the OPD in PPSD, your key roles and responsibilities include: • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of existing PPSD data infrastructure, including psychometric assessments, employee engagement surveys, 360-degree feedback, assessment centre data, and morale sensing instruments • Perform environmental scanning of data analytics practices and capabilities in both public and private sectors, with a focus on talent assessment and leadership development • Develop strategic recommendations for enhancing PPSD's data analytics capabilities (e.g., to diagnose issues and harmonise data across different sources) and present findings to senior management • Contribute to the establishment and running of sustainable data analytics products (e.g., dashboards, feedback systems, and reports) to derive insights for talent assessment and leadership development • Engage with key stakeholders to understand requirements and align proposed recommendations with organisational needs • Support other relevant projects and administrative functions (e.g., leadership assessment centre operations)

What we are looking for

REQUIREMENTS • Field of studies preferably in Statistics, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or Psychology with a strong quantitative focus • Strong proficiency in statistics, data analytics, programming languages (e.g., R, Python), and data visualisation tools • Experience with writing and troubleshooting code, as well as data manipulation • Detail-oriented, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences • Experience in handling psychological or human capital data would be an advantage (e.g., implementing data quality checks, validation) • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills • Strong communication skills with a good command of written and spoken English • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently with a strong sense of initiative, as well as in team settings • Comfortable with applied work in an operational setting • Ability to adapt to changes and handle multiple priorities Shortlisted candidates will be notified within two weeks after the closing date of applications.
