What the role is

As a Social Programmes (SP) officer in MOF, you will work closely with social ministries and other agencies to identify new trends and review policies that have a direct impact on the lives and future of Singaporeans. You will partner agencies in budget planning and allocation and implement social policies to achieve Whole-of-Government objectives, while ensuring fiscal sustainability and optimal use of resources.

What you will be working on

In the Social Programmes team, you will manage the budget of one of the social Ministries. You can expect to be exposed to a diverse and highly-challenging range of issues. This includes working closely with the ministry on (i) the annual budget process and need for manpower, (ii) reviewing national policies, and (iii) evaluating major programme and infrastructure projects. The job will develop your skills in policy thinking, data analysis, and managing multiple stakeholders. You will also shape strategic policies and manage the budget of Tote Board, to foster responsible gambling, effectively steward proceeds to support social and community causes, and to maintain strong corporate governance. What we are looking for

• Background in finance, economics and/or accounting will be an added advantage • Keen interest in and passion for public policy work • Be intellectually curious and willing to explore new issues • Self-initiated and resourceful individual, able to operate in a fast-changing policy environment • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work in teams and with internal and external stakeholders • Comfortable with working with numbers and data; experience in quantitative analysis will be an added advantage • Familiar with Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint
