What the role is

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector. This traineeship provides experience in public health case management operations across two key areas. Under the core function of the Disease Response and Training Division, which supports MOH's long-term emergency preparedness and response capabilities for disease outbreaks, the trainee will develop foundational expertise in infectious disease case management protocols, including isolation and quarantine procedures and emergency response planning. Additionally, the trainee will gain valuable exposure to MOH's role in supporting Health Sciences Authority's anti-vaping operations through case management functions, including tracking cases across intervention pathways, coordinating rehabilitation programme referrals, monitoring compliance requirements, call centre operations and providing secretariat support to the Vaping Case Management Task Group (VCMTG). Through this role, the trainee will develop proficiency in multi-agency coordination, case tracking, and workflow management while contributing to critical public health protection efforts and building expertise in public health operations, regulatory coordination, and administrative functions within the healthcare sector.

What you will be working on

Infectious Disease Case Management & Emergency Response Monitor and execute daily operations to ensure timely implementation of public health policies, supporting isolation and quarantine protocols, including coordinating infectious disease operational needs across quarantine, isolation, conveyance, facility, home recovery and sustenance operations. Contribute to the development of Disease Emergency Response Operations Management (DE-ROM) IT systems. Vape Case Management Operations Support day-to-day case management operations including case intake, processing, and resolution tracking for vape cases. Maintain case tracking systems, update case status across different offence tracks, and manage case transitions through appropriate intervention pathways including coordinating rehabilitation programmes and compliance monitoring as well as providing hotline support to frontline enforcement agencies, counselling centres, hospitals, individuals going through rehabilitation, and penalty/offence enquiries. Exception Handling & Problem-Solving Assist in identifying and managing edge cases requiring non-standard interventions or urgent escalations across various operational contexts. Multi-Agency Coordination & Stakeholder Management Coordinate with various government agencies such as MOE, MINDEF, ICA, MOM, MHA for case referrals and external vendors like ST Logistics for suspect vape collection and laboratory testing arrangements. Data Analysis & Management Reporting Support the production of regular management reports and operational metrics, including data collection, analysis, and presentation of findings to support decision-making processes. Contribute to digital system improvements and database management, explore automation opportunities to enhance workflow efficiency, and use data analytics tools to support data analysis and operational reporting. Process Improvement & Administrative Functions Review existing workflows and identify improvement opportunities to support operational efficiency while contributing to the implementation of new processes and tools to enhance case management operations. Provide administrative and secretarial support including meeting coordination, documentation management, and support to working groups including VCMTG, that support team operations and inter-agency communications.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
