What the role is

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector. The trainee will be part of a team in the Policy and Plans Division, under Crisis Strategy and Operations Group. His/her role is to support the rationalisation and translation of medical policies into operational policies and strategic plans, to prepare for ground implementation in the case of healthcare crisis or other emergencies that are of strategic importance to the ministry. The trainee may also support the division in formulating public and operational communications for such scenarios. In times of a disease outbreak scenario or exercise, the trainee may also be called upon to support ground implementation for healthcare operations.

What you will be working on

(1) Strategic planning for longer-term healthcare operations and capabilities • Support the development of plans to support MOH’s pandemic preparedness in a post-COVID environment, including the formulation of the overall operational strategy for emergency mass vaccination/testing/drug distribution operations or other healthcare operations for medical emergencies and disease outbreaks. This includes supporting the raising of these operational capacities during crisis. (2) Support public and operational communications for emergency mass vaccination operations • To support in the drafting of public communications and information dissemination to vaccination providers for mass vaccination operations, in accordance with MOH vaccination policy. (3) To contribute to ground operations to ensure the quality and efficiency of healthcare services in times of a disease outbreak scenario • Support ground effort in overseeing that medical service providers perform and comply with approved policies and procedures. • Support public engagement to create awareness and understand the rationale of operations that support public health. (4) Staffing and Administration • Might be required to support key forums at the Ministry and Inter-Ministry level for healthcare-related task groups or medical boards.

What we are looking for

• Polytechnic diploma or university degree, preferably in healthcare-related disciplines • Experience in areas of strategic planning and/or operation implementation in healthcare sector will be an advantage. Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
