What the role is

Amidst a manpower-constrained labour market, the Public Service will need to develop targeted strategies to attract and retain the Public Service's fair share of talent. Coupled with changing population profile and aspirations, there is an increased need for greater job and career flexibility, including in the Singapore Public Service. This requires us to explore new and novel ways to fractionalise jobs and create more flexi-load opportunities. PSD’s Workforce Development (WD) cluster leads overall workforce development strategies and interventions for the Public Service. We believe that people are at the heart of our organisations and strive to build an agile, skilled, and future-ready Public Service workforce. You will be at the forefront of an innovative pilot project on job fractionalisation (i.e., the breaking down of a role into smaller parts, so that tasks can be shared more flexibly), and help to shape the future of flexible career options in the Public Service. This includes leveraging a data-driven and tech-enabled approach to introduce job fractionalisation frameworks and processes to address different priorities and aspirations of a more diverse workforce, and providing support to agencies’ workforce transformation efforts.

What you will be working on

Learning Areas By joining our #PeoplePurposePossibilities internship, you will: a) Contribute to the formulation of policies and/or workforce strategies to enhance career flexibility within the Public Service; b) Drive engagements with internal and external stakeholders, including Public Service agencies and research partners; c) Communicate innovative concepts and workflows on job fractionalisation to agency HR leaders and teams; d) Support the collection and analysis of data for the pilot project; and e) Report/present key findings to Senior Management. Beyond this pilot project, you may also be included in other workstreams relating to Strategic Workforce Planning, where you can gain insights from a Centre of Government (COG) perspective of the Public Service workforce, should you be interested.
