What the role is

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector. This internship offers an opportunity for driven individuals who have an interest in public service administration to understand the work undertaken by the Public Trustee’s Office, a department under the Ministry of Law, and to be part of the team that assists the Public Trustee in carrying out his statutory roles and functions in Singapore.

What you will be working on

As an intern with the Public Trustee’s Office, you will be involved in the following: (a) administering the estates and un-nominated CPF monies of deceased persons; (b) administering the realisation of assets and distribution of monies of deceased persons to the beneficiaries according to the applicable laws; (c) assessing solicitor-and-client costs in motor accident cases; (d) assessing appeals related to motor accidents involving uninsured or untraced drivers; (e) assessing claims on moral and equitable grounds for bona vacantia estates; (f) developing and reviewing operational policies and procedures; and (g) performing other duties as assigned for developmental purposes.

What we are looking for

University degree in any discipline (familiarity in accounting, business and finance or legal concepts would be useful); (a) Fresh graduates with prior experience and/or interest in customer service and case administration work are welcome to apply; (b) Good written, oral, interpersonal and analytical skills; (c) Good engagement, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills; (d) Empathy, emotional resilience, and ability to work in a fast paced environment; (e) Ability to work independently, or in a team and with partners and stakeholders; (f) Self-motivation with a desire to succeed.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
