Data Analyst [GRIT@Gov]

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector. The Legal Operations Group (LOG) at the Attorney-General's Chambers is seeking trainees who are passionate about data analytics to help drive evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation. This traineeship offers opportunity to develop competencies in data analysis, visualisation, and governance within the legal ecosystem. Trainees will gain expertise in statistical analysis, data management, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, and business process improvement.

As a Data Analytics Trainee, you will: • Support the enhancement of systems to collate comprehensive data across AGC on workload, performance measures, and resource allocation • Assist in monitoring and tracking Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and help prepare statistical reports for management • Provide basic analytical support for research projects and papers that enable the organisation to work more effectively • Learn about business processes across various divisions and collaborate with senior team members to extract insights from data • Support analytical projects in cross-functional teams and assist in developing reporting formats aligned to departmental priorities • Assist with data analysis and visualisation projects under supervision and help present findings to stakeholders • Provide support for corporate projects such as Business Process Re-engineering by contributing to data collection and basic analysis • Gain exposure to data governance principles and assist with data request evaluations and processes • Provide administrative support for key meetings and data-related initiatives

• Bachelor's degree in quantitative disciplines such as Mathematics, Statistics, Business Studies, Operations Research, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields • Strong analytical mindset with foundational knowledge in statistics and research methods • Basic familiarity with data handling concepts and willingness to learn visualisation tools such as Tableau • Some exposure to programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL through coursework or personal projects (candidates should submit their portfolios and may be asked to complete a basic assessment in the absence of any portfolios) • Interest in legal industry processes is advantageous but not essential • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team • Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to engage with various stakeholders • Eagerness to learn and develop expertise in data analytics and governance
