What the role is

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector. This traineeship offers fresh graduates the opportunity to gain valuable experience in healthcare regulation and policy work within the Registration Division in the Secretariat of healthcare Professional Boards (SPB). Trainees will develop competencies in regulatory operations, policy review, stakeholder engagement, and administrative support for professional healthcare boards.

What you will be working on

As a trainee in Registration Division in SPB, your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: • Screen and process healthcare professionals' applications for registration, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and standards • Reviewing and managing the policies and operations of the Healthcare Professional Boards in regulating healthcare professionals. • Handle enquiries from stakeholders and the public regarding registration matters • Provide secretariat support for Board/Council and professional committee meetings • Any other duties as directed by supervisor

What we are looking for

This is an entry-level position suitable for candidates with or without working experience. Those with experience in regulatory, policy work, operations, or administration will have an advantage. Key Competencies Required: • Thinking Clearly & Making Sound Judgements – Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to support the crafting of sound policy recommendations; ability to grasp timelines, operating context and ground realities. • Learning & Putting Skills into Action - Possesses the drive and curiosity to learn and apply new skills, knowledge and new ways of working. • Improving & Innovating – Ability to seek continual improvements, and to innovate and experiment while managing the risks involved. • Working Effectively with Stakeholders – Ability to mobilise and rally partners and stakeholders towards a collective purpose. Additional skills and competencies required: • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a confident demeanour • Proficiency in spoken and written Chinese for correspondence and meeting documentation, due to the profile of TCM applicants • Critical thinking, customer relationship management and data analysis skills • Meticulous, attention to detail and strong organisational abilities • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, handle pressure well, and meet tight deadlines • Self-motivated attitude and positive approach to work • Technological proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office applications

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
