What the role is

This traineeship is with the Occupational Safety and Health Inspectorate with the Occupational Safety and Health Division (OSHD). OSHD works closely with stakeholders to promote workplace safety and health (WSH) through legislation, policies, capability building and engagement programmes. The Inspectorate is the enforcement arm of the OSH Division and is responsible for the enforcement of the WSH legislation to ensure that workplaces maintain acceptable safety and health standards. This is achieved through the conduct of strategic inspections and surveillance of workplaces as well as issuance of licenses for various competent organisations and competent persons authorised under the law. The Inspectorate also investigates fatal and serious accidents and regularly shares lessons learnt from the accidents with the industry.

What you will be working on

Work on initiatives to strengthen OSHI's enforcement of Design for Safety (DfS) requirements. Support teams in the planning, development, and execution of initiatives whilst gaining hands-on experience in DfS-related activities.

What we are looking for

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering • Keen interest in OSH Enforcement in the public service • Ability to evaluate multifaceted information and making balanced decisions • A team player with a strong analytical mind and ability to work independently • Good communication and writing skills are essential

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
