What the role is

This traineeship is with the Work Pass Division (WPD). WPD is responsible for regulating the numbers as well as eligibility of foreigners who work in Singapore. In doing so, we implement policies that meets economic, business needs but at the same time ensuring that the aspiration of our local workforce is not compromised. In addition, our policies also take into account other factors such as social, security and immigration considerations because granting a work pass means allowing a foreigner to enter and stay in Singapore to work for a period of time. We regularly review our policies and process to ensure that our system remains efficient and effective serving the best interest of Singapore and Singaporeans. WPD handles all transactions relating to the application, issuance, renewal and cancellation of a work pass. We take a human-centred approach to service delivery and strive to provide a seamless experience for our citizens and customers. To uphold the integrity of our system, we also put in place controls and work with other government agencies to detect and deter fraudulent work pass activities.

What you will be working on

- Support enhancement features in SGWorkPass (SGWP) by conducting user interviews and research on key stakeholders like migrant workers, employers and industry associations to understand use cases, usage patterns and feature preferences. This includes conducting user testing with stakeholders with prototype screens of the new features. - Assist in analysing user feedback data, mapping user journeys and mapping 'as is' and 'to be' process flows to identify potential operational implications when new features are implemented in SGWP. - Develop digital content and collaterals for comms and engagement tailored for different stakeholder groups. This includes creating content for MOM’s social media, websites and other comms platforms. - Support in ongoing SGWP initiatives including integrating with another MOM mobile app to a unified engagement app to better serve our MWs and conducting a Proof of Value (POV) to test overseas onboarding with pilot users.

What we are looking for

• Tertiary qualification in Communications, Marketing, Business Development, Social Science or other related fields • Content creation abilities for social media channels and stakeholder management will be an advantage • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, with excellent interpersonal skills • Excellent verbal and written communications skills • Resourceful and able to work independently

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
