What the role is

This traineeship is with the Foreign Manpower Management Policy Department with the Workplace Policy and Strategy Division (WPSD). WPSD develops policies covering a wide spectrum of issues, including strengthening workplace and occupational safety practices through our legislation, guidelines, standards and advisories, as well as ensuring the proper management and well-being of foreign workers. In addition, WPSD monitors the employment landscape to address the needs of the changing workforce and to foster a more inclusive workplace. The Foreign Manpower Management Policy Department develops and reviews strategies and policies to improve the well-being of migrant workers and manage disamenities that may arise from having a large migrant worker population in Singapore.

What you will be working on

1. The candidate will be required to support in the planning and development of policies and strategies to support migrant workers’ socio-recreational needs and management of migrant worker facilities. 2. Conduct data analysis on the adequacy of Recreation Centres (RCs) capacity based on projected migrant worker demand to meet migrant workers' recreational needs 3. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders including land agencies to formulate appropriate policy proposals that ensure a sufficient supply of socio-recreational options for MWs 4. Work with internal ops agencies to create geospatial heat map for dormitories with layers such as bed rental prices, occupancy limit, etc.

What we are looking for

• Good analytical and writing skills to be able to discern trade-offs and put forth and convincing policy options and arguments. • Comfortable with using data and to engage stakeholders to identify critical policy issues and concerns to work on. • Strong team player with good interpersonal skills.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
