What the role is

At IRAS, we aim to be a leading tax agency known for our efficient services, expertise and integrity. We are looking for committed team players to co-develop the next generation of ICT systems that improve how millions of taxpayers connect and interact with us. By being our trainee, you will have the opportunity to: • Learn how IRAS applies technology by participating in an agile development team for the development of IRAS’ Core Tax system in the cloud using cloud native technologies with devops methodology; • Build on a wide spectrum of core technology skills; and • Experience IRAS’ work environment and culture first-hand.

What you will be working on

To perform both functional and non-functional testing: Functional Testing • Support users to develop and review test cases • Analyse possible test coverage lapses and discrepancies • Train and guide users on test techniques • Conduct system/ application shakedown in UAT prior to start of user testing • Test data prep for UAT test cases including test accounts • Support business users for UAT execution Non-Functional Testing • Plan the NFT test activities and define the approaches after discussion with business users and architects on system requirements • Participate in technical sessions, develop and review scripts and necessary approvals/ sign-offs • Execution of NFT tests and timely reporting of status to relevant forums • Provide recommendations in all areas of application fine-tuning to improve overall NFT (if any)

What we are looking for

• A passion for technology and willingness to learn; • Team players who are self-motivated, adaptable, resilient with good interpersonal communication skills; • Coding background and knowledge; • Ability to design/ write test cases and understanding on testing methodology e.g. performance testing, while/black box testing. The traineeship will be for a period of 6 months.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
