What the role is

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector. Reimagining Innovation in Education: Empowering Educators through Design & Digital Tools As a Product Innovation trainee in the Digital Innovation & Ventures Accelerator (DIVA), of the Digital Excellence & Products Division (DXD), you will support innovation in Singapore's education system through human-centered design and emerging technologies. Working directly with educators, school leaders, and policy teams, you'll identify ground challenges and prototype solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and administrative processes. You will engage in the complete innovation process from user research and stakeholder engagement to prototyping and pilot implementation across schools and headquarters. You'll facilitate design sprints, co-creation sessions, and workshops whilst developing digital prototypes and strategic communications for senior leadership. This will help build innovation capacity throughout the education system.

What you will be working on

-Gain hands-on experience in human-centred design, including journey mapping, persona development, and co-creation facilitation with educators and policy teams -Scope, design, and prototype digital solutions for real-world problems in education, using tools like Figma and Miro, while working within public sector requirements and constraints -Develop project management and stakeholder engagement skills, from planning and executing pilots to capturing user feedback and communicating insights to decision-makers -Build familiarity with innovation methods and frameworks used across the public service, including design sprints, problem-framing, and rapid prototyping for policy and operations -Build an innovation culture at scale, by supporting workshops, demo days, and toolkit development that empower educators to solve grassroots problems creatively

What we are looking for

-Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear summaries, workshop materials, or outreach content -Organised and detail-oriented, with the experience to coordinate tasks or logistics across multiple stakeholders -Comfortable using design and collaboration tools such as Google Workspace, Miro, or Canva -Experience in supporting events—such as workshops, hackathons, or community engagements would be an advantage. -Familiarity with prototyping tools (e.g. Figma), UX research methods, or innovation frameworks (e.g. design thinking) will be an advantage

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
