What the role is

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector. As a Digitalisation (Automated Testing) Trainee in the Pupil Placement Services Branch of the Student Placement & Services Division (SPSD), you will be part of MOE's digitalisation journey in automated testing for MOE pupil placement systems (such as the Post-Secondary Posting System, Secondary One Posting System, Primary One Registration System). As part of the Testing Team, you will contribute to revolutionising how system testing is conducted, while developing technical competencies in test automation and quality assurance. Key competencies you will develop: - Test Automation Expertise - Master automated testing tools. - Quality Assurance Methodologies - Develop comprehensive understanding of testing principles, test case design, and quality assurance best practices. - Continuous Improvement and Innovation - Cultivate abilities in process optimization, identifying automation opportunities, and driving testing efficiency improvements. - Collaboration and Stakeholder Management - Build skills in working with business users, technical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders. - Business Domain Knowledge - Gain insights into Singapore's education system and pupil placement processes.

What you will be working on

- Requirements Analysis - Review current manual testing practices, gather business requirements, and define automation scope and priorities. - Automation Development - Support the development of automated testing using modern testing frameworks and tools. - Quality Assurance and Validation - Execute automated test suites, analyse results, and collaborate with business users to validate system functionality against requirements. - Testing Framework Implementation - Assist in building and refining the automated testing framework that will serve as the foundation for all placement system testing. - Knowledge Transfer and Documentation - Create testing documentation, best practices guides, and support knowledge sharing.

What we are looking for

- Relevant academic background or training in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field. - Strong self-directed learner, curiosity about new technologies, and flexibility in adapting to changing requirements. - Ability to break down complex problems, think logically, and resolve problems systematically. - Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to engage effectively across diverse stakeholder groups and adapt quickly in a fast-paced transformation environments. - Strong interest in testing methodologies, attention to detail, and passion for ensuring software quality and reliability. - Good foundation in technology, understanding of digital transformation concepts with exposure to emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning would be an advantage.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
