What the role is

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Desktop Engineer. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical support and maintaining the organisation's desktop computing environment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal disruption to end-users.

What you will be working on

Desktop Management -Providing first-level technical support for end-users' hardware, software, and network connectivity issues -Installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems, including operating systems, applications, and security software -Diagnosing and resolving desktop, laptop, printer, and basic network problems -Managing user accounts, permissions, and access rights -Setting up new equipment and conducting user orientation -Assessment and procurement/leasing of software, devices and peripherals. Technical Support -Troubleshooting hardware and software issues -Supporting standard office applications (Microsoft Office, email clients, browsers) -Assisting with remote access and VPN connectivity -Managing mobile device configurations and support -Maintaining inventory of IT assets and licenses Service Delivery -Responding to user requests in a timely manner -Documenting all support activities and solutions -Following IT service management processes -Escalating complex issues to appropriate technical teams -Providing basic training to users on common applications -Problem and Incident Management

What we are looking for

-Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field -Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office suite -Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy management -Proficiency in hardware troubleshooting and maintenance -Understanding of basic networking concepts and IT security practices -Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills -Strong communication abilities and customer service orientation -Ability to work independently and as part of a team -Good time management and prioritisation skills -Adaptability to learn new technologies quickly -Attention to detail and documentation skills

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
