What the role is

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Software Engineer focusing on AI-enabled or automation applications. In this role, you will help build and maintain user-friendly applications that make AI and automation capabilities accessible to end users, while learning modern software development practices.

What you will be working on

(a) Application Development -Assist in developing web applications using React and other modern frameworks -Help build and maintain user interfaces for AI-powered tools -Learn to integrate various APIs (including AI services) into applications -Write clean, maintainable code following team standards -Participate in code reviews and implement feedback (b) Infrastructure and Development Operations -Help maintain CI/CD pipelines -Assist in implementing and running automated tests -Learn to work with containerized applications -Support deployment and monitoring of applications -Contribute to documentation of systems and processes (c) Integration and Optimization -Help integrate AI services with frontend applications -Assist in implementing security best practices -Support performance optimization efforts -Help troubleshoot issues across the stack -Participate in system design discussions

What we are looking for

-Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field -Basic knowledge of web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) -Understanding of at least one modern frontend framework (React preferred) -Familiarity with version control systems (Git) -Basic understanding of RESTful APIs -Knowledge of at least one backend programming language (e.g., Python, Node.js) -Willingness to learn new technologies and best practices -Good problem-solving skills -Ability to work effectively in a team

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
