What the role is

The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touchpoint on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the First Responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a humane and gracious society for all, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in greater harmony within our biophilic City in Nature.

What you will be working on

[What the role is]

The Community Animal Management Division of AVS is the public-facing unit that safeguards animal welfare and ensures public safety and health.  The Division also works with relevant stakeholders, including the community, to foster community stewardship.

[What you will be working on]

You will be part of the Community Animal Management Operations Branch under the Community Animal Management Division. As part of the First Responder team, you will address and manage public feedback on pet and community animal-related issues, including inspections and enforcement. You will also participate in community projects and coordinate work to promote animal well-being, animal health and welfare, and at the same time, safeguard public safety and health.  
 

What we are looking for

•    Area of studies in Veterinary Science, Biological Science, Zoology, Ecology, Life Science or related science discipline.
•    Team player with initiative, drive and good interpersonal/communication skills who is able to work independently.
•    Preferably with at least one year’s experience in working with animals.
•    Familiarity with the administrative and enforcement procedures will be an advantage.
•    Independent and able to work effectively with others in a team environment.
•    Good understanding of animal welfare and health matters; as well as their impact on public health and safety.
•    Possesses good interpersonal, written and communication skills.
•    Willing to work at weekends and after office hours.
•    Valid Class 3 driving license would be an advantage.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified. Successful candidates will be offered a 11-month employment contract
