What the role is

The trainee will support the team in the following :

What you will be working on

  • Assist in Business Analysis activities for:

(a) Workforce Development Grant (WDG) integration into CommonShop

(b) Program Discovery and Referral system development (Phased delivery from September 2026 onwards)

  • Perform business analysis for WDG integration into CommonShop platform, ensuring alignment with existing grant frameworks and future requirements

  • Design and validate the Program Discovery feature to help businesses find relevant training programmes and grants effectively

  • Develop the end-to-end user journey for the Referral system, facilitating seamless connections between businesses, training providers, and grant administrators

  • Map grant processing workflows and identify opportunities for automation and process optimisation

  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure successful integration with CommonShop and other government systems

What we are looking for

Knowledge/Skills

  • Foundational understanding of IT systems, business processes,

business analysis techniques, workflow mapping, and process optimisation gained through academic study or internships

  • Basic knowledge of system integration principles, user journey design, and platform development processes, with willingness to learn government-specific frameworks

  • General understanding of public sector operations and compliance requirements, with particular value placed on candidates who have working experience in government agencies (Ministry or Statutory Board)

  • Proficiency in creating process maps, user journey documentation, and business requirements using standard analytical and office applications

Abilities/Aptitudes

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders, with ability to build productive working relationships and manage partnerships

  • Strong logical reasoning skills to map complex workflows, identify process improvement opportunities, and understand system integration requirements

  • Curious mindset focused on understanding user needs and designing intuitive solutions, with tenacious approach to validating requirements and optimising user experiences

  • Highly adaptable to changing requirements in phased delivery environments, with proactive approach to managing multiple workstreams and integration challenges

  • Demonstrates strong learning agility, attention to detail in requirements gathering, and receptiveness to feedback in a dynamic government technology environment

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
