What the role is
What you will be working on
Work closely with the team to develop 2 to 3 short term digitalisation projects to improve operational efficiency and outcomes.
Support the WSS team resolving system issues, e.g. participate in solutioning and UAT, working closely with DTD and IT vendors to ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
Work closely with the WSS team in developing 1 to 2 data analysis projects
- Define the problem
- Gather and prepare the data
- Analyse the data
- Visualize and communicate the results
Support in the development of scripts for data extraction and analysis for WSS reporting purposes
Write the code, test, debug and document the scripts (i.e. steps involved in the analysis and instructions on how to run and interpret the results)
Provide training for the WSS team on how to run the scripts and interpret the results
Knowledge/Skills
Technical skills:
Proficiency in programming languages like SQL and Python for database querying, data cleaning, pre-processing, manipulation and analysis, and Microsoft Excel for basic data work.
Statistical knowledge, including descriptive statistics, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis.
Proficiency data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, or programming libraries like matplotlib and ggplot2
Soft skills:
Able to translate business requirements into analytical approaches and interpret results in a business context; evaluate data quality, identify patterns, and draw meaningful conclusions.
Able to break down business questions into manageable analytical tasks.
Able to present findings clearly to through reports, presentations, and dashboards, as well as document methodologies and create actionable recommendations.
Strives for accurate analysis with a curious mind to explore data and ask the right questions, and able to connect analytical insights to business outcomes.
Good project management skills to handle multiple analyses simultaneously.
Abilities/Aptitudes
Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
Demonstrate positive attitude and good work ethics.

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.
All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:
- Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
- Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
- Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.
Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
