Manager / Assistant Manager (Field Sampling & Technology Section) - Contract
What the role is
We are seeking a self-driven, committed, and experienced professional to join the Wastewater-Based Epidemiology Branch at the Environmental Health Institute, National Environment Agency. As part of our multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to innovative technological solutions and digital transformation initiatives to strengthen Singapore's pandemic readiness and public health capabilities.
What you will be working on
You will design and conduct field and laboratory research to assess and mitigate environmental exposure concerns in the built environment. Key areas of focus include indoor air quality, ventilation systems, and bioaerosol science. You will also contribute to developing national environmental public health policies and collaborate with stakeholders to translate scientific findings into actionable policy and operational solutions.
The successful candidate will:
- Manage contracts, procurement activities, inventory systems, and operational data to drive efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely project delivery
- Manage stakeholder relationships and communication across diverse teams to ensure effective collaboration and information sharing
- Drive technology innovation and quality improvement projects, including developing and deploying enhanced sampling systems using Internet of Things (IoT) sensors, AI-powered analytics, and cloud-based monitoring platforms
- Lead digital transformation initiatives by implementing data analytics, machine learning algorithms, and predictive modelling for environmental health surveillance
- Conduct field operations including field sampling, site feasibility assessments, deployments, equipment troubleshooting/maintenance and safety/audit checks, as and when required
- Review and redesign work processes to enhance operational efficiency and improve safety, if applicable
What we are looking for
- Bachelor’s / Post-grad Degree in a STEM discipline is preferred
- At least 3 to 4 years of working experience in technology development and project management for multi-disciplinary science / public health / engineering projects; demonstrated track record in driving technology innovations from concept to deployment.
- Meticulous and experienced in managing sets of data for analysis, and proficient in Microsoft Office tools. Practical experience in data analytics/modelling will be a plus
- Well-versed in contract management and procurement strategies
- Comfortable working in the field and in handling wastewater with appropriate PPE and equipment, as and when required
- Good awareness with a “Safety First” mindset
- Keen interest to develop new capabilities through projects and self-learning
- Proactive, independent and possesses initiative
- Good written and verbal communication skills
