What the role is
What you will be working on
Support the operationalisation of the LiDAR tree mapping of public trees and use of satellite imagery data to provide comprehensive tree health monitoring and analytics by work with third-party vendors and service providers from the tech team to implement and test technology solutions ensuring they meet stated requirements.
What we are looking for
Area of study in Remote Sensing, Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science or related field.
Strong understanding of different sensor types, their capabilities, limitations, and appropriate applications for vegetation monitoring.
Familiarity with IoT sensor networks and data integration challenges.
Knowledge of commercial satellite data providers and familiarity with common geospatial data formats including GeoTIFF, shapefiles, and netCDF.
Knowledge of image processing techniques, spectral analysis, and vegetation indices relevant to tree health assessment.
Ability to work with APIs and automated data acquisition systems.
Proficiency with geospatial software and programming languages including GIS platforms, Python or R for data processing.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship
The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.
All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:
- Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
- Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
- Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.
Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
