What the role is

The Standards Division serves as Singapore's national standards body, administering the Singapore Standardisation Programme and working with over 2,600 industry experts to develop Singapore Standards that support national plans and emerging areas. The division collaborates with international bodies like ISO and IEC to ensure Singapore's standards align with global best practices.

This traineeship offers an opportunity to drive digital transformation within the Standards Division, focusing on business process redesign and system implementation. You will develop competencies in digital product management, business process analysis, change management, and user experience design. Through this role, you will gain valuable experience in translating business requirements into technical solutions and supporting organisational change initiatives in a government setting.

What you will be working on

•    Business Process Redesign: Lead the digitalisation of the Standards Division's processes, conducting comprehensive business process re-design to streamline standardisation programmes and document these processes for implementation.

•    User Story Development: Draft detailed user stories to support ongoing digital transformation projects, ensuring that technical solutions align with business needs and user requirements.

•    Change Management and Training: Prepare change management communication packages to facilitate smooth transitions and conduct user training sessions to support system onboarding across the division.
 

What we are looking for

•    Technical Background: Background in IT product management with demonstrated experience in user story development and agile methodologies.

•    Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities to understand complex business processes and translate requirements into clear, actionable user stories.

•    Communication and Training: Experience with change management principles and training delivery would be advantageous, along with excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
