Senior Executive/Manager, Religious Policy & Development (Policy)

What the role is

You will join our dynamic Religious Policy and Development (Policy) team, contributing to both operational and strategic policy-related matters.

What you will be working on

1. Women’s Desk

Programme Development & Review:

  • Serve as Liaison Officer/Point of Contact for all women-related matters and inter-ministry committee coordination.

  • Plan and execute strategic initiatives on women-related policy development and stakeholder engagement.

  • Facilitate and support inter-agency coordination on the AMLA review workstream.

2. Religious content assessments and regulatory compliance reviews

  • Conduct evaluation of materials and content for sensitivity to religious contexts, factual accuracy, and adherence to relevant regulations and standards.

  • Evaluate whether content complies with religious standards, including non-discrimination and accommodation policies.

  • Review and enhance regulatory documents, such as SOPs.

  • Prepare written reports on compliance findings and recommend corrective actions if necessary.

3. Policy Development and Implementation

  • Contribute to the formulation of religious policies that promote religious harmony, social cohesion and spiritual growth.

  • Engage with external stakeholders to ensure effective policy implementation.

  • Develop comprehensive policy positions and recommendations on various religious matters.

4. Administrative Duties

  • Respond to inquiries regarding religious matters from the public in a respectful and knowledgeable manner.

  • Draft religious policy replies to interagency queries and internal departments.

  • Support and provide oversight for projects such as conferences and seminars, including preparation of research agenda, meeting notes and reports.

What we are looking for

  • Tertiary education in Islamic studies or any related field

  • At least 2-year work experience in policy-oriented work within a religious or cultural setting is advantageous

  • Strong understanding of Islamic principles and contemporary religious issues and local religious and cultural sensitivities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Malay are required as the role involves engaging with diverse stakeholders, preparing policy documents for government use, and communicating religious guidance to both English and Malay-speaking communities.

  • Proficiency in Arabic is required to effectively support research tasks and ensuring accurate interpretation and comprehensive research outcomes.

  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent presentation skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and AI applications.

  • Highly disciplined, independent, multitasker, and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Comfortable with tight datelines.

Successful candidate will be appointed on contract basis.
