What the role is

This traineeship offers the opportunity to join a small, agile team in the Civil Aviation Medical Board (CAMB) Division at CAAS for hands-on experience in executing staff and regulatory functions that contribute to aviation safety. The trainee will develop highly sought-after skills in regulatory oversight, stakeholder management, large-scale event planning, and digital innovation while contributing to critical work that ensures the smooth running of the medical fitness certification backroom operations within the CAMB Division. This unique opportunity provides exposure to international aviation standards and the chance to work on meaningful projects that directly support Singapore's world-class aviation industry.

What you will be working on

The trainee will take on meaningful responsibilities and gain diverse experience across:

  • Driving digital transformation: Contributing to the management of ELMeRS (Electronic Licensing Medical Records System) and influencing the development of the next-generation system, gaining valuable tech experience in a regulatory environment.
  • Managing a major industry event: Playing a key role in the planning and execution of the Aviation Sector Mental Health and Wellness Festival to be held in April 2026 - a major event benefiting the entire local aviation community, providing end-to-end project management experience.
  • Shaping regulatory processes: Supporting the administration of medical fitness assessments for pilots and aviation professionals, helping to maintain the highest safety standards in one of the world's busiest aviation hubs.
  • Enhancing customer experience: Monitoring and improving service delivery, directly impacting customer satisfaction and operational excellence.
  • Supporting strategic initiatives: Providing secretariat support for high-level working committees, offering direct exposure to executive-level decision-making processes.
  • Developing business acumen: Contributing to budget management, performance monitoring, and strategic planning activities.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
