What the role is

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full-time roles in the sector. You will be part of the Finance and Corporate Services Directorate under the People & Organisation Group which oversees the corporate requirements of AGD in the areas of finance, procurement and corporate services.

What you will be working on

You will be involved in the following areas: Budgeting • Maintain budget utilisation dashboard to ensure financial information is accurately reported • Perform periodic reporting of budget utilisation by Directorates and at overall AGD level • Track funds availability on NFS and perform virements • Evaluate Directorates’ budget proposals and provide advice on budget matters Improving processes • Review and enhance existing templates to increase operational efficiency and reduce manual inputs • Identify possibilities for streamlining of work in financial processing (e.g. AR, AP, inter-agency journals, etc) and corporate services (e.g. office purchases, record management, etc) Financial Dashboards • Review and recommend improvements to existing dashboards to better facilitate decision-making

What we are looking for

Functional/Technical Competencies: • Tertiary education in Accounting, Business or Finance, or related fields • Knowledge in business, finance and government procurement • Knowledge of automation skillsets like VBA, Python or other business programming languages is a plus • Excellent numeracy and writing skills with high proficiency in using Microsoft Excel Generic Competencies: • Motivated, organised, meticulous, and people-oriented; • Capable of multi-tasking, enjoys problem-solving and analytical work, flexible and keen to learn; • Self-driven team player with positive working attitude, strong communication, stakeholder management, writing, IT and presentation skills; • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
