What the role is

You will be working in a stimulating environment within a growing Core Competency Centre, having the opportunity to work with cutting-edge business process automation technology and drive digital transformation.

What you will be working on

Key Responsibilities

Development and Delivery

  • Design and Build: Develop, test, and deploy robust and efficient bots (using platforms like UiPath RPA, Automation Anywhere, or Blue Prism) based on business requirements.
  • Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with business users and stakeholders from various divisions to gather, analyse, and document business process requirements suitable for automation.
  • Process Mapping: Create detailed process maps and Solution Design Documents (SDD) to ensure alignment between business needs and the technical solution.
  • Quality Assurance: Support system testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure bot solutions are accurate and perform as expected.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date technical documentation for all developed bots and automated processes.
  • Consultancy: Act as a subject matter expert, offering advice and assistance to user divisions on the feasibility, best practices, and potential impact of automation for their requirements.

Citizen Development and Training

  • Engagement: Actively support MPA’s Automation Citizen Development program, serving as a consultant for MPA staff looking to build their own automations and bots.
  • Training Assistance: Assist in the development of Automation training materials, guides and workshops to onboard and upskill citizen developers
  • Governance: Help ensure that citizen-developed automations and bots adhere to the competency centre’s established governance, security, and quality standards.

What we are looking for

Qualifications and Skills

Required

  • Background in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Engineering, or a related field. Applicants with a non-IT or engineering background but exhibiting strong interest in automation and digitalisation will also be considered.
  • Aptitude: Strong logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and document complex processes.
  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyse processes, identify automation opportunities, and translate business needs into technical specifications.

Preferred

  • Basic understanding or hands-on experience with an RPA platform (e.g., UiPath, Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism).
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies
  • Hands-on experience in software development

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
