What the role is

Description of Group: The Rehabilitation and Protection Group (RPG) undertakes the statutory functions in the rehabilitation of adult and youth offenders, and the protection of children, families and vulnerable adults (VAs). Our mission is to empower individuals and families to break cycles of abuse, neglect and offending. As part of the RPG family, the Protective Service (PSV) is a statutory service that leads in the policies and processes to safeguard the safety and well-being of children and young person (CYP), families and vulnerable adults experiencing violence, abuse or neglect.

What you will be working on

This team response to Domestic Violence, Child Abuse and Vulnerable Adults cases with high-risk and immediate safety issues 24/7. The officer will be pairing up with the FRT officer and undertake crisis response duties such as immediate safety planning and intervention work for high-risk domestic violence clients, children and vulnerable adults experiencing violence, abuse or neglect.

Requirements: • Good interpersonal and communication skills • Good assessment, problem solving and multi-tasking skills • Empathetic with high level of emotional resilience and ability to work calmly in stressful situations and environment • Tenacious and nimble in handling difficult clients and/or situations • Enjoy teamwork and able to work in a challenging and fast-paced environment • Basic understanding of the local social service sector • Able to do 12 hour shift work

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024, 2025 or 2026 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024, 2025 or 2026.
  • Applicants must have no prior working experience and must be prepared to commit to a full-time traineeship.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2026 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2027 are eligible for the programme as well.
