What the role is

.

What you will be working on

• Responsible for the overall planning, organisation, co-ordination, and supervision of Hydrographic Survey. 
• Ensure Singapore waters are adequately and accurately surveyed: 
a) Assure quality and certify results of hydrographic surveys (IHO Cat “A” in Hydrographic Surveying required for approval). 
b) Oversee regulation of hydrographic surveys in Singapore Waters
• Formulate and implement the department’s policies, work plans and procedures, including:
a) Training and career development
b) Work plan
c) Digitalisation and transformation
d) ISO Quality management system 
• Assist the Chief Hydrographer on formulating and implementing the division’s policies, work plans and procedures. 
• Participate in regional and international fora on hydrographic matters and safeguard Singapore's strategic maritime interests.
• Undertake project assignments as and when directed. 

What we are looking for

• Experienced in leading a department or division
• Excellent communication, management and teamwork abilities
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Background in hydrography, geomatics, surveying, engineering, geographical information systems, maritime navigation or a related field
• Strong knowledge of hydrographic survey principles and practices
• Strong familiarity with hydrographic equipment and software
• Strong understanding of nautical chart production, maintenance, and use
