What the role is

As a Process Control Trainee, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and deployment of next-generation semiconductor research & development capabilities by supporting new tool startup activities within our engineering team. You will be part of a dynamic environment where innovation, precision, and collaboration drive the successful integration of cutting-edge equipment into high-performance fabrication workflows. Through this role, you will gain hands-on experience in tool qualification, process optimization, and equipment troubleshooting. You will also develop key competencies in statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), and cross-functional coordination with equipment vendors, R&D engineers, and operations teams. This traineeship will equip you with a strong foundation in semiconductor process technologies, equipment engineering, and the critical startup methodologies that enable scalable, reliable, and efficient manufacturing solutions.

What you will be working on

• Perform tool acceptance testing and ensure compliance with specifications. • Develop and execute qualification protocols. • Define and optimize process parameters for new tools. • Conduct experiments to validate process stability and repeatability. • Integrate new tools into existing process flows. • Resolve process-related issues. • Collaborate with equipment and maintenance teams to address tool performance problems. • Create and maintain SOPs, process specs, and engineering change notices. • Document tool setup procedures and process recipes. • Ensure all new tools meet environmental, health, and safety standards. • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation plans.

What we are looking for

Job Requirements • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related fields. • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, including wafer fab, assembly, and test operations. • Knowledge of SPC, DOE, and FMEA methodologies. • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab). Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
