What the role is

The role of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Trainee is designed to provide comprehensive exposure to the implementation of initiatives from a large-scale mental health and wellbeing master plan within a uniformed organisation. The trainee will work across various strategic thrusts, including Workplace Support, Individual Empowerment, Capability Enhancement and Easy Access to Mental Health Services. There will be a hands-on role with opportunities to engage with multiple stakeholders. The traineeship offers the chance to develop core competencies in several areas: • Programme and Project Management: Assisting in the execution of mental health initiatives from conceptualisation to completion. • Stakeholder Management: Collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure the successful rollout of initiatives. • Communication and Outreach: Crafting and disseminating mental health and wellbeing-related content and facilitating awareness campaigns. • Data Analysis: Contributing to the collection and interpretation of data to assess the effectiveness of initiatives. • Professional Development: Gaining practical experience in applying psychological principles within an applied organisational setting. The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

What you will be working on

The trainee will be a key contributor to mental health and wellbeing initiatives and will be responsible for the following tasks: Mental Health Awareness and Promotion: • Assisting in the development of mental health awareness infographics and self-care checklist. • Supporting the planning and execution of organisation-wide events and activities to promote wellbeing. • Facilitating the dissemination of mental health-related resources via various communication channels. Programme Support: • Providing administrative and logistical support for existing mental health and wellbeing programmes and support structures. • Assisting in the coordination of external collaborations with partners to expand access to mental health support. Data and Administrative Management: • Helping with the collection of data from relevant initiatives. • Organising and maintaining records related to mental health and wellbeing initiatives. • Providing general administrative support to the team.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a motivated and proactive individual with a strong passion for mental health and wellbeing. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes: • Field of studies in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related discipline. • Prior experience gained from internships, academic projects, or volunteer work in mental health, wellness promotion, or programme coordination will be helpful. • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with individuals at various levels. • Proficiency in spoken and written English and strong analytical skills. • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Proficiency in common software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Understanding of statistics and proficiency in the use of statistical software. Short-listed candidates will be notified within two weeks after the closing date for applications.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
