What the role is

You will be part of the Singapore Botanic Gardens’ Education team that oversees strategic planning and handling of educational activities for schools and the general public, as well as the management of a public library in Sembawang.

What you will be working on

You will be required to manage public library operations in Sembawang, including administrative and operational functions such as the management of library contracts, staff, facilities, and outreach programmes.

 

You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to contribute towards promoting, planning, scheduling, developing and implementing educational programmes, events, interactive exhibits and interpretative signs. This will also involve planning, coordinating, and facilitating educational activities held in the Singapore Botanic Gardens and external venues such as Fort Canning Park, schools and the public library in Sembawang.

 

You will also be required to perform administrative tasks such as the procurement of goods and services, handling of public enquiries, finance payments, educational programme registrations, conducting surveys for various educational programmes, and any other duties as required to ensure the daily function of the branch.

What we are looking for

  • Areas of study in Environmental Science, Library Science, or other related discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal and organisation skills.

  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences, including children.

  • Strong interest in plants and nature.

  • Ability to handle logistical set-up effectively and both work independently and as a team member.

  • Experience in leading collaboration and partnership with schools and institutions.

  • Strong team player with ability to multitask and work under pressure.

  • Demonstrates adaptability, problem-solving skills and initiative.

  • Willingness to work on weekends and public holidays.

  • First-aid certification will be an advantage.
