What the role is

This traineeship with with the Manpower Planning and Policy Division (MPPD). MPPD is responsible for workforce planning, labour market policy and HR sector development. The Foreign Workforce Policy Department is responsible for the formulation and calibration of foreign workforce policies.It aims to ensure that the foreign workforce complements the local workforce, so as to achieve good employment outcomes for our workers along with good business outcomes for our firms.

What you will be working on

You will be part of the team that formulates and reviews our Foreign Workforce policies to ensure sustainable economic growth that leads to good jobs and real wage growth for Singaporeans. This includes reviewing sector specific plans to drive productivity driven growth, including foreign worker quotas and levies.

What we are looking for

• Strong analytical ability and sense of perspective for policy formulation and implementation • Good with details and adept at working with complex data • Able to take initiative and work independently in understanding and resolving issues • Strong writing and presentation skills to communicate proposals with clarity and confidence • Good people skills to work across divisions, agencies and with a range of stakeholders

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
