What the role is

As a Data Analytics Trainee, you will join the Operations Planning Unit / Data Office, within VITAL’s Central Services. These initiatives enhance operational efficiency and enable data-driven resource allocation decisions, setting the foundation for more sophisticated data applications in the future. The role offers an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience in digital transformation and data analytics within a government agency setting.

What you will be working on

You will support Operations Planning in: • Work on 1 to 2 data analysis projects to identify trends, patterns and insights that inform resource allocation decisions • Data collection and validation from various operational sources to support our Data Hub implementation • Dashboard creation using Microsoft Power BI to visualise operational metrics and performance indicators • Learn about business processes across various divisions and collaborate with senior team members to understand how data supports operational planning • Research and benchmarking of best practices in data management and operational planning

What we are looking for

• Technical skills in MS Excel and basic familiarity with data analysis tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms • Basic familiarity with data handling concepts and some exposure to programme languages such as Python or SQL through coursework or personal projects • Interest in emerging technologies including low-code/no-code platforms and willingness to learn Microsoft Power Platform. • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
