What the role is

The Technology Office leads the planning and implementation of strategies to enhance Singapore's competitiveness as an international air hub through research, innovation and investment. This traineeship offers exposure to tech planning across emerging areas in aviation such as AI, robotics, autonomous vehicles and other technologies. Trainees will develop competencies in strategic planning, project management, stakeholder engagement, and governance whilst contributing to aviation sector innovation programmes and initiatives.

What you will be working on

As a Technology Planning Trainee, you will:
 

  • Support tech planning and implementation activities for AI, autonomous vehicles and emerging aviation technologies
  • Assist in managing tech roadmap implementation plans and coordinate appropriate funding mechanisms
  • Contribute to funds governance processes and support interfacing with International Centre for Aviation Innovation (ICAI)
  • Provide secretariat support as needed for research and innovation platforms

What we are looking for

Requirements

  • Possess strong analytical and planning skills to support tech strategy development and implementation activities
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective coordination
  • Show strong organisational and administrative abilities to manage roadmap implementation and provide secretariat support
  • Display professionalism and confidence when interfacing with international organisations and research stakeholders
  • Exhibit attention to detail in governance processes and funding coordination
  • Demonstrate self-motivation and collaborative approach with ability to support multiple initiatives


Experience in the following areas is advantageous:

  • Familiarity with technology planning or implementation processes
  • Understanding of roadmap development and project coordination
  • Knowledge of research and innovation ecosystems
  • Interest in emerging aviation technologies including AI and autonomous vehicles

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
