What the role is

Information Systems & Geospatial Group (ISGG) is one of the key groups in URA that drives ICT transformation initiatives to support our URA mission. Be part of the URA Information Systems, Application Department, where we partner closely with our Groups to plan, design, develop and deploy enterprise IT systems, e-Services, mobile apps and web portals to support work process transformation and improve service delivery for our external customers. In addition to providing IT advisory and support to continually improve our IT systems to ensure its relevance and capability to meet changing business needs, we also constantly explore new digital technologies and possibilities via collaboration with key industry players to advance strategic deployment of ICT in URA. This opportunity will be under ISGG.

What you will be working on

URA has a suite of e-Services to facilitate efficient services to the public. This includes URA SPACE, a centralised online integrated map portal that allows public to self-help and access a wide range of detailed land use and development related information. The backend Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) platform supports the map centric visualization and queries and other web-based GIS planning applications. The intern will undertake the following tasks: • Be part of the application development team in charge of URA GIS applications to facilitate the implementation of the revamped URA SPACE platform that provides location and data centric information for public access • Understand business needs and processes of existing platform to propose digital solutions for new application enhancements and modules • Design UI/UX and develop functionality enhancements of the web-based GIS application that supports usage on both desktop and mobile devices across the different popular browsers • Perform technical upgrades and application revamp e.g. upgrade code libraries, code refactoring, migrate Javascript framework from Handlebars JS to ReactJS etc • Generate unit test cases and perform application testing with business users • Deploy application via Continuous Integration/Continuous deployment (CI/CD) to testing and production environment • Document the changes for knowledge transfer Learning Outcomes • Learn and apply the use of web application development (JavaScript, ReactJS, Tailwind CSS) and GIS technologies (ArcGIS Javascript API, Leaflet) • Develop interactive application codes and scripts (Python) • Experience agile development of an enterprise system • Work with various IT team members and business users • Gain hands-on experience in balancing time and scope for effective project delivery

What we are looking for

• Students pursuing Computer Science / Information Technology / Information Systems / related fields • Able to commit full-time from Jan – May 2026 (5 months).
