What the role is

Design & Planning Lab (DPLab) is a group within URA driving URA's Urban Planning & Design Technology Centre of Excellence (URBEX) efforts. Our teams with capabilities in software development, geospatial analytics, urban science, modelling & simulation, artificial intelligence / machine learning, data governance, management and engineering, work closely with planners, architects, policy makers across various agencies, as well as external partners, to generate insights and develop tools and solutions to tackle Singapore's urban planning challenges.

What you will be working on

- Develop arcpy scripts that will run as GP services to automatically update data - Schedule and run ArcGIS notebooks and other geoprocessing scripts - Support implementation work to launch the new data products and associated workflows - Consult with planners and design user experience to satisfy their requirements - Build new workflows on Esri Workflow Manager and customise the UI using Esri Experience Builder - Engage with stakeholders and propose solutions at review sessions to get stakeholders' buy-in - Participate and contribute to scrum meetings Learning Outcomes: - How data can inform planning - Familiarisation with Esri tech stack and enterprise solutions - Co-development as part of a scrum team - Effective presentation, communication, and writing skills

What we are looking for

- Interns who are able to commit 5-6 months minimally between Jan - Aug 2025. Full-time internship preferred. NOTE: To facilitate the hiring process, please state your availability (part-time or full-time), including specific start and end date in your resume or application form. - Students pursuing Computer Science / Information Technology / Urban Science / GIS / Geography / related fields. Required: - Programming skills: Python, ArcPy, Pandas, Geopandas and other ETL libraries - ArcGIS Geoprocessing functions (Intersect, Union, Spatial join and etc.) Bonus: - GIS technology: ArcGIS Server, GeoServer, PostGIS, Feature Service, GP service, Notebook, Workflow Manager, Experience Builder - ArcGIS functions/modules: Tasks and Toolkits, Workflow Manager, Tasks and Toolkits, Data Reviewer, Rules management, Parcel Fabric - Other software: Jira, Confluence, GitLab, Figma, Canva, FME, Jenkins, Microsoft Azure, AWS - Front-end development: React, Redux, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Esri Maps SDK for Javascript, Web API development We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
