Design & Planning Lab (DPLab) is a group within URA driving URA’s Urban Planning & Design Technology Centre of Excellence (URBEX) efforts. Our teams with capabilities in software development, geospatial analytics, urban design modelling & simulation, data science, AI / ML, data engineering, data governance and management, work closely with planners, architects, policy makers across various agencies, as well as external partners, to generate insights and develop tools and solutions to tackle Singapore's urban planning challenges. The Data Engineering (DE) Team in the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is responsible for applying advanced methods in data engineering to enhance various aspects of urban planning and development. The team comprises data engineers, analysts, cloud engineer, and planners who work together to provide innovative solutions to complex urban challenges.

What you will be working on
1. Data Pipeline Development and Support: Assist in designing and building data pipelines to enable efficient data flow from the source system to the PSDH Data Lakehouse, using SQL and Python for ETL processes and azure cloud services like Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
2. Data Ingestion and Management Approval: Support the ingestion of data from source system into PSDH, including preparing documentation and analyses required for seeking management approval to initiate the data ingestion.
3. User Transition Assistance: Liaise with users to support their transition to PSDH, including gathering requirements, coordinating timelines, and facilitating onboarding to the new platform.
4. Documentation and Best Practices: Create and update documentation on pipeline processes, data migration steps, and best practices for using PSDH.
Learning Outcomes:
• Data Pipeline Engineering: Gain practical experience in constructing and managing data pipelines, using SQL and Python to transform and transport data.
• Data Lakehouse Architecture and Governance: Develop an understanding of the PSDH data lakehouse framework, including strategies for securing management approvals and aligning with governance policies.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Approval Process: Build skills in liaising with stakeholders, gathering user requirements, and supporting the formal approval process for significant data migrations.
• Technical Documentation: Learn to document technical workflows and create user guides, gaining insights into best practices for data ingestion and supporting user transitions.

• Undergraduate students pursuing Computer Science / Information Technology, or relevant studies,
• Preferred internship duration: May - Aug 2026 (3/4 months)
