What the role is

The candidate will be required to sense-make and identify emerging issues and opportunities as part of pre-emptive and proactive comms. To do so, the candidate will need to be data- and citizen-centric, leverage different communication platforms and experiment with new and emerging communications trends to achieve impactful and integrated outcomes. The candidate will also manage the Department’s corporate communication function, including marketing and branding, mainstream media and social media engagements and support the Director in stakeholder engagements as well as any other projects and duties as assigned.

What we are looking for

• Interest in strategic comms planning, crisis communications, media relations to stakeholder engagements, with demonstrated ability in developing, implementing, and reviewing comms plans • Basic to intermediate data-analysis and digital communication skills • A strong team player with great interpersonal, writing and presentation skills with demonstrated ability to work across teams and with diverse stakeholders including vendors • Good knowledge of local and foreign media • Keen interest in current affairs, emerging trends and issues especially those relating to Malay/Muslim matters in the context of Singapore’s multi-racial and multi religious society which requires both English and Malay speaking and writing proficiency • Willing to work irregular hours including, on weekends and public holidays • Able to work well under pressure

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
