PUB Smart Operations and AI Transformation Traineeship [GRIT@Gov]

This is an entry-level traineeship opportunity designed for individuals keen to explore the intersection of digital systems and artificial intelligence in a utility and process-driven environment. The trainee will support PUB officers and teams in managing enterprise systems that are required for key operational functions. In addition, the role involves exploring the potential of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) tools and conversational AI technologies to enhance operational workflows. This traineeship offers valuable exposure to system management, stakeholder engagement, and the design and evaluation of AI-powered co-pilot/chatbot solutions tailored for the utilities sector. Learning Opportunities: • Gain practical experience in project and stakeholder management. • Work hands-on with emerging AI technologies in a real-world setting. • Understand the challenges and opportunities of deploying AI in engineering and operational workflows. • Develop skills in various aspects of digital system lifecycle, natural language processing (NLP) and prompt engineering.

• Assist PUB officers in managing digital systems supporting various PUB operational functions – including stakeholder coordination, contract management, technical analysis & troubleshooting, change management. • Collaborate with engineers and domain experts to identify key use cases for integrating co-pilot / RAG to key process workflows. • Conduct research and benchmarking of RAG tools and frameworks suitable for PUB’s operational needs. • Prototype, test and evaluate performance of suitable RAG-based solutions using available platforms or custom-built solutions

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. • Interest in or familiar with AI/ML concepts, especially NLP and RAG architectures • Exposure to programming languages and frameworks such as Python and LangChain is beneficial. • Interest in digital transformation and improving operational efficiency through technology. • Good communication and collaboration abilities.
