What the role is

As an Engineer/Executive Engineer (Mechanical) at Changi Water Reclamation Plant, you'll play a vital role in treating used water to produce high-quality NEWater and ensure safe discharge to the sea. Working alongside a team of engineers and contractors, you'll implement various maintenance strategies to keep critical water treatment equipment running safely and efficiently. Your responsibilities include developing maintenance plans and budgets, managing spare parts inventory, and overseeing contractor performance to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Beyond routine maintenance, you'll contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, efficiency, and equipment reliability. The role involves hands-on experience with enterprise systems like the Asset Management System (AMS) for procurement, contract management, and asset tracking. As part of the GRIT@Gov Traineeship initiative, this position offers comprehensive exposure to infrastructure management, from predictive maintenance systems to contract administration. You'll develop technical problem-solving skills, learn to work with various stakeholders, and contribute to innovative solutions that make Singapore's water systems more effective and sustainable.

What you will be working on

• Work with a team of engineers and contractors to implement predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance works safely • Assist supervisor to devise maintenance plan and budget, procure essential spares, monitor spares inventory and utilisation of expenditures • Participate in safety/work/energy improvement projects and initiatives including review work process/procedures to improve equipment reliability, performance, and efficiency • Perform procurement, contract management, inventory, and asset management functions with enterprise systems such as the Asset management system (AMS) for maintenance and servicing of equipment • Manage and implement contracts to ensure works performed by contractors are executed according to objectives and within budget.

What we are looking for

• Degree in Engineering (Mechanical) • Able to work independently and a good team player • Able to respond to urgent situations outside normal working hours • Comfortable with working in used water environment and physically able to perform site works • Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration monitoring and its basic application for equipment maintenance. Work Location: Changi Water Reclamation Plant

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship

The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.

All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
  • Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
  • Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.

Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
