What the role is

About SAFCo

The Singapore Sustainable Aviation Company (SAFCo) is a mission-driven entity supporting Singapore’s national SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) policy. SAFCo manages the SAF levy collection, procures SAF to meet regulated demand, and develops the voluntary SAF market. As a lean and agile startup, SAFCo is building foundational capabilities to ensure operational excellence, transparency, and credibility in the SAF ecosystem.

This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SAFCo. The Director of Sustainability & Programme Management will lead SAFCo’s efforts in developing the voluntary SAF market, managing sustainability documentation and certification, and serving as the internal expert on carbon accounting and policy. This role is central to SAFCo’s credibility and leadership in the global SAF ecosystem, requiring both technical depth and commercial agility. The role may also encompass team leadership responsibilities, including supervising a team.

What you will be working on

Sustainability & Carbon Accounting Leadership

  • Serve as SAFCo’s subject matter expert on carbon accounting, including Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions.

  • Advise on chain-of-custody models (e.g., book-and-claim, mass balance) and their implications for SAF supply chains.

  • Ensure alignment with international sustainability frameworks (e.g., CORSIA, ISCC, RSB, SBTi, ISSB, CSRD).

  • Oversee sustainability documentation from SAF suppliers, ensuring accuracy and traceability of lifecycle emissions and feedstock origin.

Policy Monitoring & Advocacy

  • Track and interpret SAF-related policies and feedstock regulations across APAC and global markets.

  • Provide thought leadership on ILUC, LCA, carbon accounting methodologies, and SAF certification schemes.

  • Liaise with CAAS and represent SAFCo in policy consultations and industry forums.

Programme Design & Market Development

  • Design and launch voluntary SAF programmes in Singapore and across APAC.

  • Build strategic partnerships with corporates, airlines, cargo operators, and freight forwarders.

  • Structure long-term offtake agreements and co-investment models to support SAF scale-up.

Certification Scheme Management

  • Lead implementation and ongoing management of sustainability certification schemes (e.g., ISCC, RSB).

  • Coordinate internal readiness and external audits required by certifying bodies.

  • Ensure integration of certification data into SAFCo’s EA registry and documentation systems.

Strategic Account Management & Origination

  • Originate and manage key accounts across buyer alliances and corporate partners.

  • Align voluntary demand signals with SAF supply strategies and procurement planning.

  • Collaborate with SAFCo’s procurement and registry teams to ensure seamless programme execution.

What we are looking for

  • Experience: 15–20 years across sustainability, supply chain, business development, and market development roles, ideally in petrochemical, energy, or aviation sectors.

  • Expertise: Deep knowledge of carbon accounting, SAF policy, feedstock sustainability, and certification frameworks.

  • Skills: Strong commercial acumen, stakeholder engagement, and programme design capabilities.

  • Mindset: Strategic yet hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable building systems in a startup environment.

  • Network: Well-connected across APAC and global sustainability, biofuel, and aviation ecosystems.

Why Join SAFCo?

  • Be part of a pioneering team shaping Singapore’s sustainable aviation future.

  • Grow your career in a dynamic, purpose-driven startup.

  • Work closely with leadership and contribute to high-impact initiatives.
