What the role is
What you will be working on
This traineeship focuses on developing expertise in Geographic Information Systems for transportation infrastructure projects. Trainees will enhance web-based GIS platforms by analysing user interfaces, identifying improvements, and implementing UI/UX enhancements. Key responsibilities include collating and inputting geospatial data, converting datasets to GIS formats, coordinating multi-divisional data collection, and developing standardised documentation and workflows.
Candidates should be proficient in ArcGIS, Microstation, and AutoCAD, with strong communication skills and attention to detail. Programming knowledge and understanding of engineering design datasets are advantageous. Training includes step-by-step demonstrations, practical exercises with sample datasets, and hands-on experience across multiple GIS applications to build comprehensive technical competency.
What we are looking for
Candidate has knowledge of GIS applications (ArcGIS, Microstation, AutoCAD) with strong communication and engagement skills, meticulous attention to detail, resourceful and committed attitude, and ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders. Knowledge of computer programming is advantageous for platform enhancement and data management tasks.

Eligibility for GRIT@Gov traineeship
The GRaduate Industry Traineeship Programme within the Public Service (GRIT@Gov) aims to provide fresh graduates with opportunities to gain industry-relevant skills and experience that can strengthen their employability to take up full time roles in the sector.
All trainees must fulfil the following criteria:
- Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident; and
- Graduated or graduating in 2024 or 2025 from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and other Educational Institutions (e.g. private universities and overseas institutions); or
- Graduated earlier from above institutions and completed National Service in 2024 or 2025.
Trainees who complete their studies from Universities, Polytechnics, the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) or other Educational Institutions within 2025 but who will only receive their qualification/certification award in 2026 are eligible for the programme as well.
