What the role is

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) plays a critical role in keeping Singapore safe and secure with our mission to prevent, deter and detect crime. Within the SPF, the Police Psychological Services Department (PPSD) plays an important role in supporting the organisational and operational needs of SPF. The Psychologist (Care and Support) will be part of the Operational Resilience Psychology Division (ORPD) in PPSD, SPF, and will be forward deployed in a NS-heavy unit. The Psychologist (Care and Support) will deliver primary, secondary and tertiary mental health interventions to improve the psychological well-being of Full-time Police National Service (PNSF) officers in the deployed NS-heavy units, and ensure that they are mentally and emotionally fit to perform their operational roles. The Psychologist (Care and Support) will also be supporting in force-wide resilience efforts and involved in other core PPSD functions. You will be placed under the Home Team Specialist Scheme.

What you will be working on

As a Psychologist (Care and Support) in the ORPD in PPSD, your key roles and responsibilities include: • Performing screening and assessment of mental health • Conducting on-boarding engagement • Facilitating psychological case management • Conducting counselling sessions and provides crisis support • Developing and conducting psychological and mental health training • Being involved in suicide prevention, detection and intervention efforts • Facilitating morale management efforts • Conducting applied research drawing on knowledge of psychology and behavioural sciences • Working with unit management to provide professional consultation • Supporting in force-wide resilience efforts and other core PPSD functions

What we are looking for

REQUIREMENTS • Field of study in Psychology or other relevant discipline • Work experiences in psychology or related behavioural sciences will be advantageous • Familiarity with the Home Team context will be preferred • Understanding of statistics and proficiency in the use of statistical software • Proficiency in spoken and written English and strong analytical skills • Comfortable with independent work • Good interpersonal and communication skills Short-listed candidates will be notified within two weeks after the closing date of applications.
