Senior Assistant Director (Vector Control Policy Branch)

What the role is

In the Vector Control Policy Branch (VCPB), you will lead a team to draw up and enhance vector control policies across dengue control, rat control, pest management, fumigation, and regulatory schemes.

We are looking for a leader with excellent strategic-thinking and analytical skills who can assess and frame complex issues clearly, embrace innovative approaches, engage and communicate effectively, with the perseverance to push boundaries whilst developing a high-performing team.

What you will be working on

  • Lead and manage a team providing supervision, performance management, and capability development
  • Manage timelines and deliverables across vector control policy initiatives, tracking dependencies and adherence to deadline
  • Lead policy development for priority areas including dengue control, rat control, pest management, fumigation, pesticides registration and Environmental Control Officer (ECO) for Specified Construction Sites (SCS) scheme
  • Drive reviews of operational policies and procedures to support NEA's strategic objectives and keep policies up to date
  • Coordinate funding papers and review of manpower needs for NEA’s vector control operations
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement with government agencies, industry, and community groups
  • Coordinate legislative review processes and prepare inputs for Act amendments
  • Handle complex policy queries and appeals
  • Other adhoc duties

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate would possess the following qualities:

  • Relevant experience in policy formulation and stakeholder engagement
  • Strong project management and leadership capabilities with proven ability to manage section leads across diverse policy portfolios
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with openness to innovative approaches and perseverance to drive continuous improvement
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
