As Specialist/Senior Specialist in the Hydro-informatics, Hydraulics and Hydrology Division of Catchment and Waterways Department, your main roles and responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

What you will be working on
• Run rainfall runoff and hydrodynamic simulations to provide assessment on the behaviour and performance of drainage network under various rainfall conditions and analyse the results to determine the adequacy of drainage schemes and identify causes of flood.
• Carry out schematisation and verification check to ensure that drainage hydraulic and hydrology model set up adequately and accurately represent operational regime and site conditions.
• Carry out post flood investigation analysis to identify cause of flood and develop solutions to alleviate flood.
• Calibrate and validate drainage models to ensure accuracy for hydraulic studies, flood risk assessment etc.
• Develop drainage masterplans to future-proof our flood resilience by carrying out the following:-
o Engineering studies to review the adequacy of our waterways to cater to more intense rainfall and rising sea levels due to climate change; and
o Develop solutions to achieve the required flood resilience.
• Provide technical advice to in-house and external drainage related consultancy studies.
• Carry out analysis on overseas flood cases, distil and document learning points for Singapore.
• Prepare specifications, call and evaluate quotation/tender, manage contracts, certify works and make payments to ensure continuity of the hardware used by the division.
What we are looking for
• Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
• Keen interest in the technical know-how of urban hydrology, hydraulics and hydrodynamic modelling
• Possess strong analytical thinking and planning skills
• Independent, willing to learn, result-oriented and self-driven
• Resourceful team player who possesses good interpersonal and strong communication skills
• Good knowledge in IT
• Experience/knowledge in hydrodynamic modelling is preferred
