The Data & AI Office (DAO) at Civil Service College strives to build an eco-system to systematically support CSC’s transformation and business needs to achieve real-world impact, through the informed and ethical use of data. We are seeking a motivated intern to join our Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) team, where he/she will be exposed to key projects across the data life cycle. What you will be working on
• Collaborate with analysts and engage with key stakeholders to scope out analytical needs and data engineering needs across varied data-related consultancy projects.
• Assist in data processing, identify data quality gaps and provide recommendations to improve the upstream data collection for the purpose of data quality.
• Assist in the studying of data schemas across College’s diverse data sources and Single Sources of Truths (SSOTs) to develop core data sets that power College’s data products.
• Assist in the building of College-wide data products (e.g. RShiny applications, Tableau dashboards etc.) based on a set of business informed requirements, and participate in the operationalisation/roll-out of these data products, including the conduct of briefings/workshops/clinics.
• Perform independent research, with the ability to translate theoretical frameworks into practical applications with real-world impact across multiple areas of practice (e.g. Learning Analytics, Customer Analytics, Demand Sensing & Forecasting etc.).
• Translate key findings into actionable insights and present them to a range of audiences (both technical and non-technical) both orally and in writing.
• Assist in general data matters across the data life cycle – data collection, ingestion, storage, extraction, transformation, analysis, and visualization.
• Assist in general matters such as account management for data products, design of EDMs for engagement, development and conduct of initiatives to build Data Culture, amongst others.
What we are looking for
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. R, Python), with sound understanding and ability to apply both quantitative and qualitative methods.
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in at least one data visualisation software (e.g. Tableau), with sound understanding of human factors / UX / UI principles.
• Basic to intermediate proficiency in both research and experimental designs.
• Ability to understand data schemas / entity relationship diagrams and propose transformation logics (e.g. joins) based on key business requirements.
• Ability to think independently, with clarity, and articulate to a range of audiences.
• Ability to learn on the go and adapt quickly to new challenges in a fast-moving environment.
• Keeps updated on the latest development in the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence space.
• Knowledge and experience with Natural Language Processing & LLMs will be preferred.
