What the role is

An improved PROF with better algorithm, increased coverage of NSOs data under the plotting feature, and expanded coverage of materials (e.g., materials on producer prices and consumer prices) in its knowledge database.

What you will be working on

The Singapore Department of Statistics (DOS) developed a prototype Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) chatbot powered by a large language model (LLM). This chatbot, known as Price Researcher Optimised for Friends (PROF), envisions to be the first stop application for DOS’s price statisticians to discover and digest technical papers from the Voorburg Group website related to services statistics and producer price indices (SPPIs). This project aims to further enhance PROF's current algorithm to (i) improve the results and (ii) mapping of APIs from National Statistical Organisations (NSOs) public data portals to compare to SPPIs across countries. Upon completion, the project will focus on applying PROF's concept and algorithm on consumer prices (e.g., Ottawa Group on Price Indices). Trainee will appreciate the importance of such applications in improving the research and analysis experience, as well as its potential contribution to the international statistical community.

What we are looking for
