What the role is
What you will be working on
As Manager, Bus Procurement, you will play a key role in shaping Singapore's next-generation public bus fleet. By 2030, we will be replacing half of our 6,000-strong bus fleet with cutting-edge electric vehicles, and this role puts you in the forefront of this historic transition. Working at the intersection of engineering, policy, and sustainability, you will lead strategic bus procurement initiatives that directly influence fleet performance, passenger experience, and long-term asset resilience.
Your work will take you beyond Singapore's borders as you scout emerging technologies and collaborate with global manufacturers to bring the most advanced solutions to our streets. You'll witness firsthand the latest innovations in electric propulsion, autonomous systems, and smart connectivity as you help modernise a fleet that's not just safe and reliable, but also future-ready.
As the Manager, Bus Procurement, you will drive diverse and impactful responsibilities encompassing comprehensive end-to-end bus procurement and strategic asset management, including:
1. Drive Fleet Renewal and Replacement: Lead the charge in developing and executing strategies to renew and replace fleet to meet operational, safety, and sustainability objectives across the public bus network.
2. Tender Specifications & Evaluation: Lead in drafting new buses requirements, preparing tender specifications, and evaluating submissions to ensure the best value for the fleet.
3. Quality Assurance: Conduct pre-delivery inspections and testing of bus equipment to ensure they comply with contract specifications and operational standards.
4. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Coordinate with internal stakeholders (operations, engineering, policy, and system teams) to ensure seamless integration of bus systems and technologies onto the bus platform.
5. Partnership Management: Build and nurture strong relationships with overseas bus manufacturers and suppliers, staying informed on industry innovations and product developments.
6. Market Research & Design Specifications: Conduct in-depth research into emerging bus technologies and trends, making recommendations for design requirement to inform design improvements and future tender specifications.
7. Procurement Budget Oversight: Ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining high standards of quality, all within the boundaries of the procurement budget.
Your work will directly support the advancement of Singapore's public bus fleet, enhance operational excellence and sustainability outcomes, and contribute to maintaining Singapore's position as a global leader in innovative and future-ready public transport solutions.
What we are looking for
We are seeking someone who has a passion for public transport and asset management. The ideal candidate will possess:
Knowledge in Engineering (Electrical, Electrical & Electronic, Mechanical, Automotive or equivalent).
Experience: At least 7 years of relevant experience in automotive, engineering, or related industries. Familiarity with battery systems, service, and maintenance of bus will be advantageous.
Skills: Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside proficiency in IT.
Attributes: A proactive, self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
